Before starting with unicycle tricks, learning to ride a unicycle can be quite challenging. As a matter of fact, you can anticipate it taking anywhere between around ten to twenty hours of solid practice before you can expect to learn how to even ride a unicycle straight forward! You will most likely fall many, many times before you are able to finally get the hang of it.
However, all of this effort is well worth it, as being able to ride a unicycle is so much fun! Also, the ability to successfully ride a unicycle is sure to entertain your friends and family. Who knows? You may even be able to make some extra money with your new found unicycle riding skills!
As I mentioned before, it takes a lot of practice just to be able to ride a unicycle straight forward. However, once you finally have that down pat, you may then want to learn how do some more advanced moves on your unicycle.
Beginning Unicycle Tricks
One neat trick is learning the art of idling. Idling is when your unicycle stays in more or less the same spot. Because your unicycle doesn't have any brakes on it the way a traditional bike does, it is not easy to be able to idle a unicycle. However, with a lot of practice, you can learn how to idle your unicycle by utilizing a rocking back and forth type of motion with the pedals.
Another basic trick that you will want to learn how to do on your unicycle is turning. In order to do this particular trick successfully, it is imperative that you look in whatever direction it is that you're wanting to turn. With outstretched arms, you will also want to turn your upper body in that same direction. If you want to make a right turn, you will then need to place your right arm behind your back and put your left arm across the front of your chest. Conversely, if you want to make a left turn, you just need to do the opposite.
Once you have riding forward, idling and turning down pat, I'd highly encourage you to give riding backwards a try! First, you'll want to make sure that there isn't anybody standing or walking around behind you. Once you're sure your riding area is all clear, you should be all set! Try not to keep looking backwards since this will make it very difficult for you to maintain your balance.
I wish you the best of luck, and I hope that you have a great time learning how to ride and do some fun unicycle tricks!
